My mission is to improve the quality of life for patients through the delivery of innovative solutions and close collaboration with my customers.
After studying materials science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), I completed a thesis at the University of Neuchâtel and obtained my doctorate in 1990 in a pioneering field of three-dimensional printing in metallurgy. I began working in orthopaedics immediately after my PhD, designing hip implants and working closely with leading European surgeons such as M.E. Müller, H. Wagner, E. Morscher and L. Spotorno.
From 1995 to 2006, I was responsible for all tribology research activities for Sulzer / Zimmer, developing and optimising all THA and TKA bearings. Over the course of this 11-year period, I have amassed a wealth of knowledge in the fields of highly cross-linked polyethylene technologies, hard-on-hard bearings, and tribological aspects of total arthroplasties.
After these research activities, I held the position of Scientific Affairs Director for Zimmer Biomet in Europe for more than 18 years, where I gained invaluable experience in the medico-legal aspects of joint replacement. During my career in the orthopaedics, I have consistently published in scientific journals (h-index of 19 on Google Scholar) and I am frequently invited to speak at European orthopaedic conferences.
